A Guide To... Putting an image on to the Vision Mixer

As I said in my last blog, we had a problem with all of our green screens being deleted in some way. In this blog I will tell you how to put an image on to the SD card for the Vision Mixer and I also have the pctures of our backgrounds on here so you can take them from here whenever you need to. Lastly, we now have no backrground for WINOL Life so a new one will have to be made if you carry on with it next year. You may want to make a new background for everything so that they all link. These are not perfect, especially the WINOL bulletin background as that is only a captured image but it was OK for our last bulletin as we had no time to make anything else.

"So, my only idea for making sure that we had a background for the following day would be to look though all our tapes of WINOL to find a spot where there was no-one being filmed and just an empty room with our background. It took five tapes but I finally found a tiny spot, about three seconds long that had no-one and nothing in. I captured this, grabbed it, then saved it to the desktop.

To get the picture on to the SD card you have to open it in photoshop. You then have to change the image size to 720x576 pixels. You then need to save this as 24 bit.bit map or 24 BMP. Put in the SD card and move the background in to the file marked, 'images' and you're done. When it is put into the vision mixer it should download properly. My next blog will have the Sportsweek and WINOL backgrounds in for any future use, best to back everything up."

Hope that is OK. Here are the pictures of the backgrounds for WINOL and Sportsweek but please keep in mind you may not be able to drag them straight on to the SD card, you may have to go through the above process. Also there is no photoshop on the computers in Tab9 but there are in the MMC if you can nab a computer.

WINOL - 7 December

Au revoir my beloved WINOL. My very last show and it was much more emotional than I first thought. For the last 11 weeks I have been counting down the shows as things have gone wrong every week and I was not enjoying WINOL as much as I used to. I expected to just feel relief when I finished and we packed up the studio but it does feel a bit like the end to an era. I have been on production for WINOL for the last three semesters and I have learnt so much. I know every part of the gallery and the studio and I really do hope that this will not be the last time I am in a studio.

The show went well, Dan directed, I was on the sound board, George vision mixed and Justina was on autocue. I think it is quite ironic that I was on the sound board and enjoying it when only three weeks ago I dreaded it. The show went so smoothly, everyone was relaxed, happy and calm. The packages were great, and the presenters did really well too. It felt bittersweet because we were all tired and just waiting for the end but on the other hand I felt quite sad that it was all finished. My three semesters have flown buy, it feels like only yesterday that I was working with third years before me on their last WINOL. The only advice I can give to anyone working on WINOL is; enjoy every minute. From the complete lows to the ecstatic highs, enjoy everything because it will all be gone in the blink of an eye.

The only problem we had this week was that our green screen was no longer on the SD card and ALL of our work had been deleted from the computer in the studio. When I say ALL I mean absolutely everything, even the routes and backgrounds to the files were deleted. Suspiciously Media still had all of their work on the computer though, and in fact had more work; plastering the entire desktop. I worked on getting back the green screens whilst Jack focused on putting the beginning sequence together.

Luckily on the Tuesday I found all of our music for the opening sequence in ten second parts which helped Jack as he then only had to find the video of the opening sequence and put the two together. I remembered that Chris had saved the Sportsweek background on Flickr so after trolling it for a while I found the background. The WINOL news bulletin background was completely lost though. I realise that this is partly our fault as we should have backed everything up but I do not think it entered any of our minds for a moment that we may loose all of our work.

So, my only idea for making sure that we had a background for the following day would be to look though all our tapes of WINOL to find a spot where there was no-one being filmed and just an empty room with our background. It took five tapes but I finally found a tiny spot, about three seconds long that had no-one and nothing in. I captured this, grabbed it, then saved it to the desktop.

WINOL - 16 November

This week mostly went to plan. We started rehearsing later than normal and so there were some points we were not as sharp on as we could have been. We did manage to start recording at three but there was a lot of post production for Jack.

William decided about 2pm that we were going to have Rebecca Gray, our News Editor as an in-studio guest to talk about unemployment in the UK. She did break it down locally eventually but Angus said that we should have started with that as there were a lot of statistics. I think she did really well though as this was decided very late in the day.

We should have had another camera on Rebecca too. I was on vision mixing so I only had the choice of a two shot. We should have had the two shot, a shot just on Rebecca and a shot just on Gareth. This would have made it a little more interesting.

George, our director was great this week. Especially with the late changes he took them in his stride and worked really well.

We had two reporters in Estonia this week. Justina Chlad and Aimee Pickering. They did really well in getting some footage for us and sending it back to us. They had an angle and a story they wanted us to follow but somewhere in communications this was lost. We reported that Shira Pinchuk was in Estonia to win an award for her documentary called, Karet. This was a fatal error on our part as Shira was not there to win an award but to simply showcase her work to other artists. We also did not accredit Justina or Aimee for their part in the story when I think we should have as they were acting as foreign correspondents.

Angus said that we were right to put in a story about the Estonia Festival. This is because it is something positive for our university and so we should support it. This is the same as putting in a story our editor wants no matter how much we may disagree with it.

We messed up a couple of times in the gallery. I very stupidly clicked on to VT in the middle of a link. I have no idea why I did this and it annoyed me greatly. I normally know exactly what is going on and am compeltely confident, if a little nervous. I am putting it down to only a 30 minute rehearsal as I was not confident at all and was actually a little flustered.

No WINOL next week due to rehearsals for our big November 30th production. I will of course keep you updated with this too.

WINOL - 2 November

This week we had a member of the BJTC come in called Martin Herd. He looked over our whole bulletin day and the making of the bulletin in the gallery at three.

I worked on the vision mixer this week and actually really enjoyed it. Normally I stand back and make sure that everything is running smoothly and that if anyone needs help I am right behind them to help. It was nice to get back in to the actual making of it during the recording. I have actually missed vision mixing.

Martin said that he enjoyed the day and that we were very lucky in the stories we got. Some reporters quite rightly were annoyed at this. I think I can see what he means. He must have been to other universities where they do a news story once in a while and the story is not even news worthy. Whereas we do news packages every week that are newsworthy and that should be in the bulletin. We all work very hard at making contacts and editing down to the last minute to make sure that our packages are worth being put in to the bulletin.

Julie was not lucky to get an interview in Westminster with Steve Brine, she worked very hard to arrange the interview, the travel and did everything off of her own back. She travelled there with a camera by herself and asked him questions that allowed her to get great answers. It was not a coincidence and lucky that she was in London and able to get an interview with him. Luck did not come in to it.

In the laser piece Martin thought that it added another dimension to the news but there was an abbreviation in it which should not have been used as the viewer, and me did not know what the abbreviation stood for. This is a small, simple matter that just needs it explaining a little more.

This week the headlines took a lot longer than they should have done. However this was because the template had been saved wrong. I tried to fix it and make another template but I used the wrong music on the first it of the opening sequence and so it had to be changed again. In a lot of the clips there was upsot which I managed to sort out so everyone could see when the sound would come up. I also made some audio transitions so it did not just ping to life but sound much better. As the template was changed I do not know if this got changed too but it still sounded really good. So we are winning the upsot battle in the headlines. The only down point is that the straps on the headlines were done wrong, they were huge, in the middle almost and swiped different ways. This is a small problem that needs to be changed for next week.

Also, if you are putting a caption of someone in the headline do not change what they say as this could be misconstrued.

Lastly, in the form of straps, we should not have them on the screen until the person we are captioning starts talking.

Try to place the story in context. In Ali's Bournemouth piece we did not know he was in Bournemouth unless he said. This is because we did not see anything that showed the viewer he was in Bournemouth. Such as the BIC, the beach or the town. Small problems but they will help in the long run.

Overall a really great week for both news and production. The features team also did really well this week with WINOL Life and sport with Sports week. We are producing nearly an hours worth of news, features and sport every week now and we just keep improving too.

WINOL - 27 October

This was another week I produced and everyone on the production team honed their skills. It has been a couple of weeks and they now know everything in the gallery so they are now practicing on what they prefer to do. This meant that there should not have been any production problems. However we did have a small technical problem with the VT machine.

The package by Uldduz had no strap. It was great that we found this and managed to get a new package in within time but it was not put on to the video output machine properly and was not checked after being put on. So... when it came to playing it in the bulletin it did not work. This panicked everyone and did mess up the bulletin slightly but this was sorted in post production and the story was completely pulled out.

I also forgot to put the ending sequence on to the video output and so when it came to the end of the show everyone was a little confused and we simply faded to black. Again, this was sorted in post production. I want to keep this is mind for next week and not have any problems that need sorting in post production as this would not happen on a real news bulletin.

Headlines were recorded really well this week and we all now understand the new way of doing it. I prefer this way too as it is more like the way the news is done on ITN or BBC.

We recorded an in-studio talk with the graphic wall idea with Louis O'Brian. Last week we did it with Julie about the police exclusive and this week was about courses in universities dropping. This takes time to do and does push back our schedule but the more we do these the more prepared we will be and the quicker we will be able to get them done. I think that when reporters are doing these boards they just think oh I need a script for the auto cue and a graphic for the wall but they actually need much more. Tapes, timings between the graphic and their script and at least three scripts for everyone in the gallery to follow with are also needed. This all pushes us back when we do not have these things done and ready for filming.

Everyone did really well this week and despite the hick up with the package we recovered and carried on. Well done George for directing for the first time and Justina for presenting in English for her first time.

WINOL - 5 October

This week was not our best week. I think everything will improve now as wehave hit rock bottom. Most of our problems were technical in the studio but the reporters packages were not too bad. They are learning quickly and are having fewer problems with the camera like white balancing and focus. To add to the worst week of WINOL this year we had Rachel Hepworth in from ITV Meridian. She was very complimentary and gave us some great feedback.

We tried to do an OB from the newsroom today which did not go to plan. Everything was set up but the sound was not checked until about 2, as we were starting rehearsals. This problem was not able to be fixed so we had to move the interview in to the studio. This was a decision made at 2.45 which I think was a little too late. It meant that there was not a full run through, the interviewee, Felicity did not get to have a full run through and although the sport presenter, Sam was really good, he too did not get much of a rehearsal.

We missed our first deadline of 3pm and decided to go 10 minutes later which also got missed and we finally went 'live' at 3.15pm. Which is extremely late for us. We can not miss our deadline of 3pm. We are imitating a live television broadcast and in reality if we were to miss our deadline we would be in deep water, it just would not be done.

The headlines were not recorded until 1.20pm which is over an hour late. This was due to bad organisation, and people not knowing what they were meant to be doing. I have always been completely organised and ready for any eventuality, like breaking news but that has come with weeks of practice and things going wrong that I have then learnt from and not allowed it to go wrong again. Jack is still learning and he will learn from the mistakes he has made from the last two weeks.

We have had an ongoing problem with the script. It is not laid out correctly, it does not work on the autocue so we have to type it up and this week there were not enough scripts in the gallery or the studio. We need at least six scripts for everyone but we only had three.

Reachel said that she had no idea who was in charge or who was doing what in the gallery and this was true. An outsider should be able to walk in to the gallery and know what job everyone is doing, it is that clear. However I was running in and out making sure everything was working and running to the loan counter to check on batteries and wires, when this should have been done earlier in the day. Jack should have been doing this instead of being director but due to a shortage in the amount of people on the production team he had to take up more roles. This did not help anyone in the studio and another person should have been found.

We can only get better from now on and I think everyone has now seen how hard they have to work to get the bulletin out. On the surface when it is good everything flows but when it is not flowing so well everything can fall apart. We have to be organised and stick to deadlines.

WINOL - 28 September

So we are back for another term of WINOL. This year I am still production editor but for features instead of the news bulletin. Justina and I share the same role except that I am producing the every week shows of sportsweek and anything else we want to film in the studio on a Tuesday and Justina is planning and producing the shows of WINOL Life and anything else she has up her sleave.

I am also working on a fashion feature at the moment that I am hoping will be finished by the end of November and that will be great high street fashion but it is still in the planning stages. I am currently getting knowledge from YouTube fashion videos to put mine together.

This week was just a dummy run but we still wanted to get everything together so that everyone would be comfortable and will know what they are doing for next week; when we embed the show on to the new WINOL web page. View it here:

This week I was director for the first time and did enjoy it and loved doing something different but I do not think that this is something I would like to do every week. The second years have picked up everything in the gallery really quickly so I relied on them knowing what they were doing to get through it. Angus told me afterwards I needed to be louder and communicate more with everyone in the Gallery as well as the studio. I agree with this is as I know I kind of just breathed through it thanks to everyone knowing what they were doing. If I direct again I shall try to remember this and take note to commnicate more with everyone in the Gallery.

The packages were not very strong this week. There was a lot of shots out of focus as well as not a lot of white balancing but this was to be expected as this was the second years first packages they put together. The main point is that this was a learning week and they learnt how to film and put the packages together in time for next week. I hope that they will take everything on board and will just go from strength to strength.

As the second years had never edited or filmed before it was really nice to see the spare third years helping them out and coaching them through it. I helped Felicity film her package and although it was not great I think I helped show her how to whit balance, focus, use the right microphone and how important it is to put your interviewee in the right spot. Due to being in a very sunny pub we had to move the interviewee round quite a bit and finally ended up in a spot that was not great but I think it will help Felicity in future think about the interviewee and the shot as much as the equipment.

As the show was a dummy run there is no show to watch this week but hopefully next week our official first one will be the best 'first' WINOL we have had yet.

We finished UK Today last week. It is not my best work but it showed me the amount of work that goes in to producing a whole new show, not least a show incorporating five different universities. With lots of different projects on the go I think this term is going to be a very busy one but I am looking forward to producing more content than just the news bulletin; however much I will miss it.

Winol - 11th May

We planned every part of our day out this week, right down to the minute but again, a lot went wrong. The day started off with a very simple line up of link, VT, link, VT, link, OOV etc but at about 2.30 (30 minutes before we go live) we had so many changes I lost count.

This week Charlotte, myself and Aimee told everyone we would like your head line clips ready to upload at 12.10 and packages ready to upload at 1.00. Everyone managed to do this except Andy. For both deadlines he was alte making us alte in recording the headline clips. He then asked for a 20 minute extension on his package and even then he added to that; meaning we finally collected his package at 1.40. We finally got all the packages uploaded and started rehersals where Andys package would not play so I had to re-save that three times, then there was a legal problem so it had to be taken off and at about 2.57 I finally got the package back to put on to the system. Alas, I did not check this version and when we came to play it in the bulletin, it did not work. We had to apologise for this and it was missed out of the bulletin. I had to put it back in in editing.

We also came up witha breaking news story which then had to have pictures put in and a script written and rehearsed in about 20 minutes.

We also had a problem with two people putting straps in the middle of the page. After changing one we could not change the other so they both had to be put back on the VT system without the correct place for the straps.

The running order was changed last minute too due to the script writer putting two OOVS together and then the handover which we would not be able to do. Geoff gave us the idea to switch the running order and this worked with Becky Grey's help too.

This was all happening in the Studio where we had two men from BJTC, Angus, Chris, Brian and Geoff Hill from CNN. Justina also had a problem with another OOV that we did not have much time in practicing. So overall another bad week due to content being changed a lot. I understand that this probably happens in broadcast a lot but I think that we did not actually need the breaking news. It happened on the Isle of Wight which is not for our target audience, there was no body found and we said in the bulletin that we would keep the viewer updated on our website but we have no story on the website for them to look for more information.

This week I think I found out why the voice sync was wrong in our last couple of bulletins. When we record the french and polish bulletin, editing is fine and the sound and vision is synced but when I put the ustream on the VT computer it puts the sound out of sync. So this week we put the ustream on Brians computer and the sound and vision were synced perfectly. I found and corrected this problem by myself, which makes me very proud instead of running to a technician. So snaps for me.

When I started editing and after putting Andys package back in I noticed that because of the technical problem and because of changing the running order we had no link between Andys package and the Emily OOV. This made it look like one long package so for the first time that I have been Production Editor we had to go back in to the studio to record a link. Kieran Brannigan, the presenter also wanted to re-record the beginning because he had fluffed a couple of his lines due to all the complications in rehearsals. This added to editing time and again the bulletin was not uploaded until 6.30. Next week our primary goal is to have the bulletin on WINOL at 4pm sharp.

Lastly, the talk back was not working due to technical problems that could not be fixed so I would like this to work next week too. It meant that we were still running back and forth to Tab9 instead of jsut being on a headset.

This week we wanted to keep production simple so that everything would go to plan and work properly but decisions were made to complicate a lot at the last minute; confusing the director, sound, vision mixer, VT person and the presenter.

Next week I hope that all the Editors are a lot stricter with deadlines. I have also been shown by Paul Carter a way in which we can drop packages in to a folder that will appear on the studio computer. This means that we will not have use hard drives and keep running back and forth.

Winol - 16th March

This week was not the best for the production team. We were not able to get in to the studio until 12pm. We had two Skype interviews to do, Japan and Bahrain, Sportsweek, headlines and the bulletin to do in two hours, (before rehearsals for the bulletin).

Of course we all panicked, Justina had the idea to get a camera from the loan counter and film the Bahrain interview on a normal computer. In the end, it looked really good, not as good as it could have looked but not too bad. We then got in to the studio and filmed the Japan Skype interview. The production team worked really well and we got everything done that was needed of us. This made me very proud of my team and happy that we all work well together as well as knowing what we need to do and how to do it.

We worked on the strap lines throughout the morning, before we were able to get in to the studio. Once in the studio we got the Skype done, we did Sportsweek and the headlines were done. However today was the day that everything fell apart. We tried capturing and logging the headlines but when we tried this there were pink fuzzy lines running throughout the recorded footage. This meant we then had to re-shoot the headlines. We did this in one take and Justina edited them quickly.

We then focused on the bulletin. I showed Natasha what to do on the vision mixer and she did an amazing job with only a little bit of training. We then found that the VT's were in the wrong order, there was one missing and there was a spelling mistake on the sports graphic. With all of this going on, we found it hard to hear each other because of the presenters voices being turned up in the gallery, there were quite a few people in there and because we could not always hear each other there were some raised voices. This was not the calmed gallery we are used to and resulted in us all being very stressed. The problems were solved and Justina made the great decsion of pulling the sports graphic before we went live in air.

I recorded on the usual tape and recorded on the Tricaster too meaning we had a back up recording. In future I have to press record as soon as Justina says roll VT because this week on the Tricaster's recording there was about a minute of black where I had been recording too soon. This is one of the points I want to concentrate on next week.

This week was very hectic, some people did not know what they were doing, some were too confused and others work was not fitted in on time on Tuesday and so ran over on to the Wednesday morning when we were busier than normal anyway. Despite many things going wrong throughout the day, we still recorded on time. The tape recorded version of the show did not go on to WINOL at 4 as there were problems uploading it and it had to be compressed but we did have the Tricaster recording on there with the black hole at the beginning.

Next week is our last week and we hope to make the bulletin as near as perfect as the production team can. I have put my team on the areas that they excel in as well as cancelling the entertainment show; giving us more time to work on the bulletin. We do hope to have an entertainment show at some point but want to fully concentrate on WINOL at the moment; especially for our last bulletin before our Easter Break.

Winol - 9th March

Well Done guys, this week we again got the bulletin on to WINOL at 4. The beginning recording on the Tricaster ran a little long but thankfully we go the edited bulletin on to youtube quite quickly and by 5.30pm it was on WINOL.

Only a few problems this week. Katie was a little too quiet during the headlines. There were a few black holes, as well as the background appearing before Katie, this was down to the vision mixer, Drew but as it was his first time with barely a rehearsal he did very well. These little problems were edited out in the second version so it was not too bad. Drew also went to camera three instead of the VT for the OOV but it looks OK. A minor problem. Drew, I think you also need more confidence in Justina as your director as she will cue you in when needed. I thought you were panicking a little and maybe you were letting your nerves take over a little.

I love the new strap lines but as we are changing the background at some point I think we should have waited and made a big change overall instead of little bits at a time. We also should not really introduce an interview in a link. Especially when we do not go straight in to an interview but GV's. This makes a package and not an interview.

For next week the reporters would like their own strap lines, as Sportsweek does but I think it may look a little weird that they have a strap line and then say Domonique Jenkins, Winchester news etc. Does the viewer really care, and do they want to see and hear the reporters name multiple times?

Paul Carter made a great point that there are two televisions on the wall that are not used. We should have the news on them all day on a Wednesday. There may be breaking news one day and we will miss it. This would be a huge mistake, especially if the breaking news is about Winchester.

We had a small rehearsal this week due to the script being late again. This is the second week in a row this has happened and it is meaning that the bulletin is suffering as no one on production and the presenters get a chance to rehearse. The script can be started Monday afternoon and should be finished Wednesday morning. Even if there are last minute story changes, the script should still be ready early on a Wednesday and not the one thing running late.

Katie I think you did really well this week. It was your first time presenting and you did not have much of a rehearsal due to the late arrival of the script. You held it together, even when you tripped over your words and remained professional the whole time, I would say maybe smile more though; as a viewer it feels more comfortable when the presenter is comfortable.

Natasha you were amazing on the sound board as you, again had not had much training. You are new to production and you have fit in really well and work hard. Justina, as always is an awesome director, as well as helping with the vision mixing. Sam, you did really well on VT's again, I think you have definitely mastered this. Let me know when you would like to try something a little more challenging. Claire, you did really well on the autocue. I think you were particularly nervous as it was your best friend reading the script and I think this added to your nerves as you wanted it to be perfect for Katie. You did really well and I think you're covering everything in the Gallery really well.

No more subbing. This means we can completely focus on the entertainment program and getting the bulletin out every week. No more going home from a stressful Wednesday to subbing but a chance to relax. You all did really well on subbing and I am proud of you all. You were new to it, it has problems and people are not always reliable but you did your best, congrats.

Goals for next week is to again get the bulletin on WINOL for 4pm and to try and be a little more adventurous with filming and sports. Also lets try and get the Entertainment program up this week.

Winol - 2nd March

The production team has got this job down. Every week we accomplish everything that is asked of us and to a perfect standard. This week we even met last weeks goal of using the tricaster to broadcast live, this then meant that we got the bulletin on to the website for 4pm and no later.

Tuesday was a very hectic day for the bulletin, much more so than normal. Hana's package included a live interview to Bahrain. Ali Al-Jamri set up an interview with his father who is a Journalist in Bahrain. It took us quite a while and we needed quite a bit of help from the technicians but we managed to get the Skype to run through the gallery and out from the vision mixer. This made the shot look better as it came straight from the screen instead of a camera filming a television or computer screen. Everyone was very silent in the gallery and it had a weird, very well accomplished feeling that we were all apart of something much bigger than our normal WINOL packages.

After this we recorded Justina's Polish bulletin; which is doing very well for viewers then lastly Sportsweek. Sportsweek took quite a while this week as we were trying different shots and I found a way that we can change the green screen without going straight to a VT. I was very proud of myself and think that it looks really good, we then included this in our WINOL bulletin too.

We have also decided to get parts ready this week for our Entertainment show; ready to record next Tuesday. We have decided to call it, 'Good Morning Winchester'. It is not as catchy as we would have liked but it does sound good and fits well with what we want the show to be like.

Wednesday went really well. Again, we were all relaxed and calm, even TAB9 seemed much more calm this week. We had guest editor, Tom Hepworth in, who gave ideas to packages and the script. He also congratulated the production team on how well we worked together and the feeling in the gallery.

We did film 20 minutes late but this was a great call from Katie as director as it gave us a small amount of time to do a rehearsal. It was not the production teams fault that we ran late but Katie dealt with it accordingly. We may have recorded later than normal but we still got the show on the WINOL website by 4pm.

Next week we would like to be more ambitious but we are hoping to accomplish this with 'Good Morning Winchester' and maybe an OB that is not only needed but out of the newsroom and in a place that is actually needed.

News was very strong this week, an improvement on the week before and Sport also did well. We mixed up with Andy and Karen as presenters this week and the sports table added something a little different to the bulletin.

The team did very well this week. Justina was on vision mixing, Natasha was on autocue, Sam on VT's, Drew on cameras, Katie as Director and Claire on the sound board. Everyone had a role they were not too used to and did really well with very few proper rehearsals. I look forward to introducing Natasha on to the team properly next week and hope that she enjoys it as much we do.

Well done guys, another great week for production.

Winol - 23rd February

This week was fantastic! The production team have really excelled themselves this week and I think it is a sign of how well we are doing and the great things to come. After last week with the OB in the newsroom I thought that this week we should have an OB outside and Justina came up with the gre`at idea to have the sports presenter outside instead of in the studio. Just behind the newsroom is a football pitch which we hoped people would be playing on for Wednesday. So, with this idea we set up the OB in the newsroom, this was our plan B. We then also set up an OB at the back of the studio. We unfortunately had trees in the background and not the football pitch but the main idea of having the sports presenter outside was accomplished. Now we are focusing on trying to get an OB from Eastleigh's sports ground.

Also, we were asked to do a little extra this week in the way that we wanted to introduce Justina's Polish Bulletin. We had many ideas for this, some very ambitious, some not so much so but we finally decided on having Hana, the presenter in the studio with Justina. It finished up with a 30 second chat between the two and a 30 second clip of the news bulletin. This was different for the production team and I think we did well with the short notice.

We also recorded the headlines on time and they were edited. Katie did extremely well with the vision mixing this week. I think that this was probably the hardest week for vision mixing between camera 2, VT's and the OB.

This week was Justina's last week as directing for a little bit as she has got the role down. She knows how to do everything and does it really well.

Sam also was superb. She received about three minutes training and on top of that the VT machine kept having technical problems but she did really well in getting the OOV and the interview together with no black holes or disruption. So well done.

Jake and Hana did awesome too with their presenting and with the OB making everything a little bit harder for everyone.

The bulletin was recorded on time and was perfect. We did not need to do any editing this week and as a result we had the bulletin on youtube by 4.10 and then on Winol by half past. We did not manage to use the Tricaster this week which was another of our goals because it was booked out from half two, we needed it until half three. This week we will have the bulletin on Winol by four.
